Ann is really wonderful! She has been working with my daughter for about 4 months now, and it is very clear to me that she is a kind and caring teacher who has obviously been very successful working with kids for a long time. I know my daughter can be stubborn, but her self-confidence and pride has really grown just in this short amount of time in working with Ann. The positive results speak for themselves, and we plan to continue working with Ann until my daughter finishes her academic career.

My name is Pierre P, and I am a Bakersfield native with extensive experience in educational assistance. I have been a private, independent tutor since 2013 helping local students in many different subjects. While I was an undergraduate student, I also worked in three on-campus tutoring centers providing assistance in math, writing, and business statistics at my university. I also volunteer at the Kern Literacy Council, helping socioeconomically-disadvantaged individuals prepare for the U. S. Citizenship Test. I interact with a very diverse clientele, including students who are ESL, have learning disabilities, and those who struggle due to other extraneous circumstances. I graduated magna cum laude (3. 80 GPA) from CSU Bakersfield (CSUB) and the Hawk Honors Program at CSUB with my B. S. in Business Administration, Accounting & Finance Concentrations. I am planning on getting my MBA and PhD.

We first came to know Pierre when we hired him to tutor our son N in mathematics. Pierre was very professional in his tutoring and extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter. After only a few sessions, N was able to grasp fully and understand the subject. With Pierre's guidance, instruction, care and enthusiasm, N was able to excel in a subject he had difficulty with. We would, without a doubt, highly recommend Pierre as a tutor".

Melanie provided my family the peace of mind of knowing our child was in good hands. She helped us with some issues my son was facing at the time with speech. She was always creating exercises for us to do with him at home, this played a crucial part in his conquering his speech issues. She also prepped him for test and school curriculum. It worked out perfectly because she is a teacher also. Melanie was a blessing for our family and worth every penny for our son. Thank you so much Melanie and I am glad you have opened your house to others during this pandemic. You are great. Sincerely, the Cassano family.

FAQs for finding a math tutor

How much does a math tutor cost?
The national average rate on Care.com for hiring math tutors as of September, 2020 is $18.25 per hour. The cost may vary depending on your location, the tutor's years of experience, level of education, and the student's individual needs. The rate that you'll pay your tutor will also vary if you chose a one-on-one private math tutor lesson or if they have multiple students sharing the same session.
How do I know if my child needs a math tutor?
Your child may benefit from having a math tutor if you notice that he or she is having difficulty with numbers, gets constantly frustrated with math homework, or when grades start falling behind. In some cases, getting a few one-on-one sessions with a math tutor can help your child to regain confidence and get back on track.
What questions should I ask a math tutor during an interview?
The goal for hiring a math tutor for your child will be to improve their grades. Ask questions about the process each tutor uses to help kids they've worked with in the past. Also ask each if they are familiar with your schools' curriculum. Finally, see how long they are willing to commit to helping your child with their math assignments. Your child may get back on track after a couple of sessions or may need long-term help that could require a math tutor staying with them the entire school year.
